Inclined support bug

Are you folks aware of a bug in STAAD-III (not STAAD Pro) in which reactions at inclined supports are incorrect? My purpose in bring this up is two-fold.

One, just to let people know because this could be a serious problem.

Two, to see what people's opinions are about bugs in software, specifically does this torque anybody besides me? Now don't get me wrong, as well as doing design work I do some programming, so I realize writing bug free software is difficult and the more complex the program the more difficult it is to debug. But here's what bothers me. I never heard boo from Research Engineers until I asked them about it after I had discovered the bug myself. They already knew about and there "solution" was to upgrade to STAAD-Pro. Now wait a second, why should I have to pay to fix their mistake? If STAAD-III performed as advertised then it would be fine for my needs.

But the thing I'm really unhappy about is they knew about this bug but I never received a mailing (snail or e) from them warning me about it. It's probably futile but I would like to "rally the troops" and encourage us all to be more vocal about how software companies that write programs for engineers should respond when bugs are found in there software, i.e., let us, the end user, know about it!

And it's not just Research Engineers, I could tell you a story about MathCad that would amaze you. Ah, but I will save that story for another day.

RE: Inclined support bug

What bug did you find in MathCAD, and what version?  STAAD, we know is buggy and to do a hand calc check to find what works and what doesn't.  With MathCAD, we've never had any problem.

Imagineer,

Regarding Mathcad, we've had instances where a variable will fail to update after you change a value of another variable that should affect the first variable. We first saw this in 2001 and now in 2001i. This is a very difficult bug to duplicate. Sometimes it happens, most of the time it does not. The techie I talked to there said she has only been able to duplicate the bug once.

RE: Inclined support bug

Yes, STAAD is very buggie, then why ......................................... ?
