Kevlar Cable Termination

Kevlar Cable Termination

(OP)
Does anybody have an Idea about cable terminations for KEVLAR einforced electromechanical cables to take a load of 5 tons?

RE: Kevlar Cable Termination

Yes. I have designed a 10 ton termination for a product produced at 400 units per year that achieved >95% of the theoretical breaking strain of the individual fibres. I could design a system for you, but it would cost several thousand dollars in design and analysis, and the resulting system is quite elaborate.

Alternatively most people fluff the fibres up and then lock them into a conical hole with a tapered pin, and use a polyester resin to stick the whole mess together. These typically achieve 60% of the individual fibre strength.

Cheers
