I-DEAS NX11 Slow

I-DEAS NX11 Slow

I-DEAS NX11 Slow

(OP)
Hi everyone,

I need your help solving my problem. Maybe there is someone out there who experienced this issue. I've installed I-DEAS NX11 on HP Xw4200 workstation running on windows XP then the proccessing of I-deas is very slow like importing and exporting itself and even going to the library. The current configuration state below.

C:\UGSPLM - binary
C:\TEAM
C:\I-DEAS\Ideas-scratch - working directory
TDM at drive C -local

Hardware:
HP-Xw4200 -workstation
Pentium 4 3Ghz
1 Ghz memory
80GB SATA hardisk
ATI FireGL V5100 -video card

Please tell me what seems to be the problem on this.

Thank you

Is hyperthreading turned on? This can limit the system to 50% of its maximum performance on a single threaded program, like most CAD programs.

Many tnx for the reply Loosib, anyway I already tried enable and disable the hyperthreading but the proccesing of I-Deas still the same, do you think their is a configuration of ideas that make the application runs quickly?

RE: I-DEAS NX11 Slow

There's not really much "processiing" happening when bringing data in and out the Libraries.

And since your TDM is local there should not be much to slow you down.

The only thing I can think of is have you got Team Compression on. By default it's off, if it's on then the data has to be uncompressed when you retrieve it.

What does Task Manager say about your CPU performance and Memory, is anyhting maxing out?

Hello RCDLtd thank you for your inputs!!!

In the Task Manager once we do data in and out in the libraries the ideas shows not responding but of course we used of it so we will just wait until the data in or out. Then the usage seemed that the geomon.exe is taking more cpu usage.

Talking about the Team Compression where can I set this?

RE: I-DEAS NX11 Slow

You can set this in the ideas_paramX.dat file. By default this should be in x:\Team\Master\Config

Hello RCDLtd

Tried that settings but no to avail same processing. Do you their is a hardware issue involved?

Hello RCDLtd

Tried that settings but no to avail, still the same processing. Do  you think their is a hardware issue involved?

RE: I-DEAS NX11 Slow

Are you experiencing performance issues with other installed software? If no then not likeley to be a Hardware issue.

Are you sure you have a real performance issue rather than a perceived one? Are you able to do some timing comparissons for the same operations between your machine and another of a similar spec?

RE: I-DEAS NX11 Slow

(OP)
Yes its verl very slow compared to the one windows workstation. We have to windows workstation the one that having problem and the XW4100 station. This station is very fast when doing Ideas everything is working that is why I wondered the Xw4200 is very slow. I could not swap their hardware because they are not the same hardware used.
The XW4100 used AGP video Card and SCSI hardisk and the XW200 used PCI express video card and SATA hard disk.

RE: I-DEAS NX11 Slow

Did you try creating a new model file?
