What spline is this??

What spline is this??

What spline is this??

(OP)
Hello all.

Appologies in advance, this seems too much of easy question, but its been giving me real trouble.

I received a spline with these approximate dimensions.

10 Splines
OD 46.2 mm
ID 39.5 mm
Looks like an involute spline.
I am not sure whether it is metric or imperial.

Does anyone know what spline it is, or where I can find out?

Also an Inventor/AutoCAD drawing would be very useful if you could point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance.

RE: What spline is this??

It looks like it might be a 6 Diametral Pitch Spline
or a 6/12 spline.  Probably a 30 degree involute
spline.

RE: What spline is this??

hi
do you know its country of origin this could help identify if its Module or dp, its not a standard BS3550 spline nor a ANSI B92.1 as the depth is shallow by almost .100" to both of these. its the shallow depth thats bugging me it could be a none standard spline/gear, is there any other info that you can get from it.

RE: What spline is this??

Crikey !

RE: What spline is this??

Go gearcutter.
I gave you a star on this one!

RE: What spline is this??

(OP)
Thanks all. Especially gearcutter.  Gave you a star too!

Its not correct.  But its about as close as I think I am going to get.

But here's a little more info anyway.

Country of origin. Italy. (not much help) :(

Shaft OD 46.2
      ID 31.5

Hub   OD 46.4
      ID 39.65

Yes these are correct.  Very deep on the shaft.

RE: What spline is this??

Can you confirm if the measurments across pins or tangential span, I gave, are the same on the samples?

The original shaft minor diameter was 39.5 but now you say it's 31.5; are you sure?

Is the root of the external "full fillet" or "flat root".

The hub's major diameter suggests that the spline is "top fit". Is there tooth tip chamfering on the external's teeth?

RE: What spline is this??

(OP)
Appologies.  I gave approximate dimensions for the hub first time round.

The hub looks like it is designed for flat root, but the shaft looks as it is a very deep fillet.

There is no chamfering on the external teeth.  But then I also doubt that the shaft is of the original design.

It might very well be "top fit".

Where did you get your info from or is that a secret? :)

RE: What spline is this??

Again, can you confirm if the measurments across pins or tangential span, I gave, are the same on the samples?

To confirm, based on your dimensions, is there really 4.075mm clearence between the shaft minor diameter and the hub minor diameter? This seems like an excessive amount.

 Calcs were done using Excel.
