I have a sealed (pressure vessel if you will) enclosure with electronics (1500-2000W) that is currently designed to be cooled via an air to air intercooler using high flow rates we guess the unit will provide a 5-10 degree temperature rise to amb.  If the amb temp is max 55C the inner vessel is 60-65C. The problem is the inner vessel needs to be 45-50C max.  So we need an air conditioner to get below amb.  Given the intercooler will contribute a large part of the heat transfer how would I size the air conditioner being it is not the primary means of heat transfer?

If the enclosure interior is below the ambient temp then your intercooler will bring heat in, not out.

Good point I guess once you reach ambient then the air conditioner should be the only heat transfer mechanism (I forgot to add there are air flow shut off valves so we can stop the air stream from into the intercooler).  So now the problem becomes designing a air conditioner for the enclosure.
