Help: Uddeholm 716 vs. Sandvik 7C27Mo2

(OP)
Anybody help to tell the difference between the two stailess "flapper valve strip" material Uddeholm 716 and Sandvik 7C27Mo2 ? Price are different! Our company is an air compressor manufacturer and the "flapper" is 8 mil thk.

RE: Help: Uddeholm 716 vs. Sandvik 7C27Mo2

The differences are manufacturer and chemical composition.  Both of these products are used to make flapper valves.  If you need specific design information, both manufacturers will be able to help you.

RE: Help: Uddeholm 716 vs. Sandvik 7C27Mo2

Also depending on who's hot band was used the fatigue performance of the materials will differ due to differing inclusion content and morphology.

I couldnt find a data sheet on the Uddeholm 716, I do know that the Sandvik 7C27Mo2 is a modified 420 stainless (basically 420ss + 1.0%wtMo) has a UTS>250+ksi, and relatively low numbers of large non-metallic inclusions. And generally low numbers of inclusions all together....

I'd bet that the Uddeholm material is similar (if its stainless) If its carbon steel then its likely of the 1095 variety.
