Copy a configuration and its derived configuration(s)

Copy a configuration and its derived configuration(s)

(OP)
I am currently using SW2005 SP5.0.  I have an assembly model that has a configuration with several derived configurations under it.  I would like to create a new configuration from the existing one and bring along its derived configurations.  Is there a way to do this?  I thought this was discussed before but I could not find it doing a search.

RE: Copy a configuration and its derived configuration(s)

I don't know of away to copy a config c/w its derived configs, but you should be able to quickly recreate them using a Design Table.

cheers

RE: Copy a configuration and its derived configuration(s)

Tried using a design table, it exceeded the 256 column limit.  Also tried doing one derived configuration at a time with a design table.  While the design table did not now exceed 256 columns, autocreate messed up the configuration names in several columns (for reasons I am still trying to determine).  This caused error messages when the table was closed thus causing the derived configuration not to be created correctly.
