What is the difference between "wrought" and "forged"?
What is the difference between "wrought" and "forged"?
(OP)
Do you guys know what the difference is between "wrought" and "forged" when it comes to pipe fittings?
This is very confusticating. For example, A234 fittings are described as "wrought" in most of the catalogs. But I thought A234 was also a forging? Aren't A234 welding fittings actually forged?

RE: What is the difference between "wrought" and "forged"?
Welded steel pipe fittings are made from pipe-like blanks. So yes, they are formed into shape while hot. But not just hammered out of a cube of steel as you might imagine from the term "forged".

Your example are fittings that can be formed from rolled plate or fittings that can be final forged into shape. So, there can be differences.
