phantom line font in section cut

phantom line font in section cut

phantom line font in section cut

(OP)
Hey,

I have a view which is a section cut.  It has cross hatching, but in the 3D model it is not cross hatched.
The problem is, I go to View - Drawing Display - Edge Display, and try to pick edges for a phantom line font, and they refuse to pick. ¿por que?

RE: phantom line font in section cut

One reason the hatching might not show in the 3D model is the spacing of the hatch might need to be adjusted.  If the section was created in 3D you should be able to see the X-hatch.

Thanks Heckler,

But the question is: how do I change the lines and curves in my drawing view (which is a section cut) to the phantom line font?

cheers, boffin5

RE: phantom line font in section cut

You question was a little unclear but here is some information.

Here are some options that control cross sections and their arrows

Choose DRAWING > Advanced > Draw Setup. The Options dialog box opens and displays the options in the current drawing setup file.

crossec_arrow_length    0.187500
crossec_arrow_style    TAIL_ONLINE
crossec_arrow_width    0.062500
crossec_text_place    AFTER_HEAD
cutting_line    STD_ANSI
cutting_line_adapt    NO
cutting_line_segment    0.000000
draw_cosms_in_area_xsec    NO
remove_cosms_from_xsecs    TOTAL

RE: phantom line font in section cut

To change the font of the section lines (WF2):

In the drawing click on the hatching until it highlights in red, right click to properties, Line Style, Line Font & choose your font (PHANTOMFONT)

or in the part/assembly: View, View Manager, Xsec tab, Right click on your x-sec, Redefine, Hatching, Line Style

RE: phantom line font in section cut

Boffin5,

If you choose Phantom as line font style you may not see the phantom lines if you have a small section. There is also a line font named PHANTOM_S_S which has smaller length lines which will display better in your view if you have a small Xsec. To make it easier to see the line font name you can widen the Modify Style dialog.

You can also create your own fonts by going to Format -> Line font gallery. If you click on the New button you can create your own font enter Phantom_Mini as the name and select Phantom from the Font dropdown list in the copy from section of the New Line Font dialog window shown below.

You'll see the unit length and line style get filled in for the font you selected.

"Unit Length" is the size for a single - character or space in the line style.
"Font Pattern" is a sequence of - and spaces.

The only restriction is that the font pattern can only be 32 characters long.

There is also a line_style_length option for the drawing.dtl setup file.

line_style_length FONT NAME Value
line_style_length PHANTOM   .25

RE: phantom line font in section cut

This may sound like a stupid question, but have you tried going to the Xsec tab & Display -> Show X-Hatching?
