42 V electrical systems

42 V electrical systems

42 V electrical systems

(OP)
A couple of years ago there were dramatic predictions that
42 V systems were going to be used for IC engines to allow for solenoid activated intake/exhaust valves and other advanced technologies. Then they were reported as dead because of safety considerations ( connector arcing etc, and no assurance of adequate maintenance

Hybrids today have 42v ( and greater?) systems, so it seems that 42v systems are doable. Any news on solenoid activated valves? -- or didn't they turn out to be such a good deal after all.

Thanks,

ford2go
