Friction Coefficients

Friction Coefficients

(OP)
I'm trying to find a definitive number for the static coefficient of friction for dry steel on dry steel.

My Bosch book says 0.15
My Machinery's book says 0.8
My Gieck book says 0.15-0.30

Which is correct?

RE: Friction Coefficients

Hi dandan,

See Thread404-15296. Last month we discuss the subject in a deepest way.

Please, before to do a new thread, I advise you to use the Search window for finding out if the subject has already been treated.

Have a good reading.

RE: Friction Coefficients

I am looking for information related to track-driven vehicles performance.  Specifically I need information about metal tracks contacting a metal surface.  Anyone know where I could find such info?
