Capping material documentation

Capping material documentation

Capping material documentation

(OP)
My lab recently went through a CCRL assessment, and one of the items cited was no supporting documentation (i.e. qualification tests) readily available.

We use Forney Hi-Cap, however, when we call Forney to request the information as outlined in ASTM C617, Section 5, their response is a big "DUH???"

I don't want to resort to capping with neat cement paste, but I'm at a loss as to what else is available.

Any suggestions or recommendations?

RE: Capping material documentation

You will get the big "DUH???" until you reach someone at pay grade high enough to understand the question.  They have the information you seek and they have to give it you upon request.  I've gotten the same runaround from them in the past.

RE: Capping material documentation

we have the same certificate, what you have to do is make cubes with your capping compound, no later than 90 days apart and keep a record. So just make cubes once a week, and keep a journal of breaks. just the compound not the concrete. Its in astm. under capped cylinders.
