Sheet metal - create a dart form feature

Hello guys,

I'm having difficulty in creating a dart in sheet metal. My reference to a dart is a strenghtening crease to a right angled wall. There are no pre-defined form features of this sort in the library. Is there an easy way to generate one.

RE: Sheet metal - create a dart form feature

I have been unsuccessful as well using SW05 sp4... not sure if newer versions allow this or not.

Thanks dutch7777

I tried to look at the link you supplied but unfortunatly the web page says the server is paused. I'll try later.

RE: Sheet metal - create a dart form feature

Yeah, I got that today as well...there are about 25
examples there that are a "must have"...

RE: Sheet metal - create a dart form feature

In a past life, I tried dart using sheet metal form with no luck.  I ended up using "brute force" (extrude, cut, etc.).  If there is an example of it working w/ forming tool, I will definitely check it out.

RE: Sheet metal - create a dart form feature

go to <http://www.sheetmetaldesign.com> (the above link is corrupt)

I did not find any gusset/dart model

I could be the world's greatest underachiever, if I could just learn to apply myself.

Hey TheTick,

The link works fine and I found the gusset example, thanks. Just like you I've been using the "brute force" method of using surfaces, and also shelling (clumbsy but it works).
The indent method also works, but the indents have to be suppressed if you want to do any unfolding.

Anyway, Dutch7777 and TheTick, thanks for taking the time to help me out. Keep up the good work.

RE: Sheet metal - create a dart form feature

Indent sure beats the hack & slash method of old, thanks for the tip.  I never considered the Indent feature for darts, but have used it plenty for blister packs and other thermo-formed parts.
