Lighting plans

Lighting plans

(OP)
I'm working on a site development plan for a gas station.  This particular town requires a lighting plan.  I am told that our firm typically highers a consultant for this, however, this is a small project that can't really tolerate that expense.  Can any of you offer any advice and/or point me in the direction of good resources?

Thanks in advance.

RE: Lighting plans

You may want to talk to a lighting fixture supplier... some offer design services/guidelines... alternatively, take a gander at other projects your firm has sent out...

RE: Lighting plans

We put an addition on our building a few years ago and the town wanted a lighting plan. I asked for some details on what they wanted and got a pretty thick package which I read, but really understood little. After reading it, I had a general idea of what they were looking for. I went back to the building officical, explained that I wanted to comply, but did not want to hire a consultant. He spent about a half hour explaining what the town wanted and gave me some catalog cuts for some lights that worked onsimilar situations. So I would go ask the building official or town engineer.

RE: Lighting plans

The fixture salesperson might even do it for free, if you sole-source spec their fixture.  BUT they will not seal it.  Check the Ord.; some municipalities require the lighting plan to be specifically sealed (or a separate block on the title sheet addressing lighting compliance), others do not.
