Designing Cables for Motors protected by cascaded LV circuit breakers

(OP)
Hi All,

I am trying to locate some clear literature on designing cables(for the I2t) component where the motor cables are protected by cascaded LV cricuit breakers or CB with current limiting fuse upstream protection.

Thanks in Advance

Romm

RE: Designing Cables for Motors protected by cascaded LV circuit breakers

I am sure there will be some posts here detailing cascaded (series rated) breaker and current limiting fuses etc.  But with all due respect, you have all basics mixed up. I suggest you refer to some good book and specially IEEE Buff book on Protection , and understand the meaning of all the terms you are using in your post.

If you knew the definiitons of all the terms you used in your post, you would not be asking this question in this form.
Also look up cable damage curves, compare them to some breaker and fuse curves for example take a #4/0 cable which is good for 230A, check it vs. a 225A breaker curve and some of the things will become clearer.

RE: Designing Cables for Motors protected by cascaded LV circuit breakers

In the ANSI world the concept of cascaded breakers is thoroughly discredited.  Apparently the IEC world refers to series rated breakers as cascaded breakers.
