How can they be adjusted and what would be the effect of those adjustments.  I do have knowledge on this topic but would appriciate some out-side input. Diesel engines or reciprocating air compressors can be used as examples. THX.

1)Shave the head.
2)Increased compression ratio.
Results...For a compressor an increased mechanical strain over designed specification. For a diesel, possibly the same / possibly not depending on the control system but more immediately an adjustment of injection timing would be required.
