backup issues with Intralink
backup issues with Intralink
(OP)
I'm using Intralink 3.4, M020 and Wildfire 2, M190. I'm trying to back everything up, so I can upgrade from Win2000 to WinXP. I copied the workspace folders from the proi folder, but for some reason a few files are not there. I tried to open an assembly from my laptop, but got errors that files were missing, and looked around and sure enough, those parts are listed in Intralink, but no in the associated folders. I only know of the one place that files are stored through a Work Space.
For now I've just been opening the parts and backing them up to the folders, and verifying that I can open them with my laptop. Is there something else I should do, or should have done when creating these files???
I'm not worried about the Common Space right now, because I've only got a few parts in it.
thanks...

On the client, check-in all parts and remve them from the workspace, then do your OS upgrade.

RE: backup issues with Intralink
You should never open files from the workspaces directory bypassing Intralink. The names of the actual objects at OS level can be different from the names as shown in Worspace browser. You can either do as Ben suggested which is the ideal, you can do as you are doing using the "backup" in proe or use the "export" from the object menu in the worspace browser.
For future do not do any data mangement via the explorer in and under the Workspaces dir as this will upset all your Intralink session. The whole structure is controlled by one file which is the local.ddb.

RE: backup issues with Intralink
It might take some time but you can select the files from your Workspace window and right click and choose
Export to > Disk and choose a folder for your backups.
This will save the most current versions to a directory on your Disk or Network.
