Translation of a solid.

Translation of a solid.

Translation of a solid.

(OP)
I have a casting(I.E. Lower Punch)that I need to move up in the "Z" direction,,,,What is the best way to move it and then be able to delete the old one. When I do this ,,,it seems to make a copy and I can't delete the old one .

RE: Translation of a solid.

Renright - If this is a dumb solid you could use the compass to move it.  This provides no real history of the move, but moves the solid.  If you use the translate option in Part design there still is only 1 solid, but with the history.
Now if you are talking surfaces, in GSD you can use the "No Keep" setting - button will be located 3 to the right from create datum.  When you use translate surface it will copy/move the surface then delete the old while renaming the new back to orig.  (english conversion of french methodology.)
What command are you using to get 2 solids?

Regards,
Derek
