Max Pressure for Axial Vane Pump
Max Pressure for Axial Vane Pump
(OP)
A general question: What is the maximum pressure that an axial vane pump can generate for air? I know these are very good at high pressure for incompressible fluids, but for air or gases, can they get up to 10 bar?
A related question: Which vane pumps use seals on the vanes themselves successfully, rather than just using the vane edges running against the side plates and outer housing? Have seals been used successfully?
Thanks for any input on this...

RE: Max Pressure for Axial Vane Pump
This was done by Schrrock in the UK in the 60's for automotive supercharging, but max boost was 0.5 bar and longevity was terrible.
I'm trying to find out if anyone's ever tried to make a high pressure compressor out of a vane pump, making in the order of 8-10 bar on air.
Maybe I should look for the compressor forum, but this is where the vane pump experts would be...
