Expand/collapse subassembly

SW2006  SP 5.0

In SW based BOM in Bill of Materials Properties there is a column marked (tool tip): Expand/collapse subassy.

I would like to use this on one sub-assy but do not know how. Could anybody explain that, please.

RE: Expand/collapse subassembly

It does not work for me either. (SW06-SP5) Never tried it in previous SPs or versions.

Anyone know if it works in other versions? SW2007 maybe?

cheers

RE: Expand/collapse subassembly

I honestly don't see this column you are talking about? How are you seeing it?

Click on BOM - "manager" displays on the left, than click on the box BOM Contents

RE: Expand/collapse subassembly

I see you are talking about that assembly Icon in hte BOM contents... it doesn't work in SW07 SP0 either.

It does say - Expand/collapse sub-assembly . Click the icon to expand or collapse the sub-assembly in the BOM.

I don't think this means what we think its suppose to mean... however I am not sure myself.

I would think it is describing the assembly in the expand collapse position if you have an exploded view made. My assembly does have one, but that option does not affect it. SO the question is, is it suppose to affect the assy or the BOM? I would guess the BOM, but how would one expand or collapse the BOM?

Maybe you should contact your VAR and have them ask SW about this option.

RE: Expand/collapse subassembly

I would interpret that the icon is supposed to allow an indented listing for that sub-assy only ... as opposed to the whole top level assy.

RE: Expand/collapse subassembly

ooops ... that should have been "as opposed to the whole BOM".

I think it is either for a future enhancement or from an old one that didn't work but hasn't been cleaned up yet.
