Stud bolts for ASME B16.5 Cl150 flanges

Stud bolts for ASME B16.5 Cl150 flanges

Stud bolts for ASME B16.5 Cl150 flanges

(OP)
Greetings everybody! I need to figure out the standard for stud bolts with which to connect ASME B16.5 Flanges. Is that ASME B18.2.1 or am I wrong?

RE: Stud bolts for ASME B16.5 Cl150 flanges

PrintShop,

ASME B18.2.1 is NOT the standard for stud bolts.

ASME B18.2.1, Square & Hex Head Bolts and Screws, is for bolts with a head on one end and a nut on the other end.

Stud bolts are threaded on each end or continuously threaded for hex nuts to be used on each end.

Thanks for resolving question about B18.2.1. I wasn't sure whether it applies to stud bolts or not. But which standard does apply to stud bolts? Could you please specify? Normally I do not work with ASME/ANSI standards and know little about them but now I need that sort of info urgently.

I don't know the standard. I would sugeest contacting a couple of bolt comapanies and ask them. Then verify the standard is applicable.

Hi PrintShop,

The studs to be used are listed in ASME B16.5 and B16.47. The standard carbon steel studs and nuts (high tensile) are ASME A193 gr B7 and ASME A194 gr 2H, useg in O&G Ind., refining and any flanged pressure system.

Cheers, gr2vessels
