OptisWorks Ray trace software in SW

OptisWorks Ray trace software in SW

(OP)
I am using OptisWorks ray trace software (OWLM1) within SolidWorks and it has been an excellent tool. Is anyone else out there using this software? I would like to be able to model a GRIN material lens without upgrading my software. Approximating the performance with curved surfaces has been working OK but I need an accurate model. Is anyone aware of a model that can be downloaded?

RE: OptisWorks Ray trace software in SW

That's good to here.  We use an old DOS based 2D ray trace software when we do lense design.

Never argue with an idiot. They'll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience every time.

I suppose if that's all you need then you've saved your company some money. Our Optical Engineer has ZEMAX for the actual lense design work and I use OptisWorks to confirm the mechanical design. SW with OW works well for shifting components around in the ray path for trouble shooting or tolerance stacks too.

Perhaps I should post this over at the Optical systems engineering forum?
