Porcelaine is less succeptible to aging, sun UV, and thermal variation. Also porcelaine have long term performance better performance record than polymer insulator.

After removing the conductor from the porcelain insulator attachments, 3 out of 4 of the insulators 'fell apart' in the linemen's hands from cracks.
We never stock porcelain insulators any longer.
Also, polymer insulators can withstand gunshots much better than porcelain insulators.
If you do buy polymer insulators, make certain the core fiberglass rod is boron free.
