Using ETABS section cut feature for slabs

Using ETABS section cut feature for slabs

(OP)
I want to use the section cut feature in ETABS to determine the chord forces in a slab/diaphragm.  I can follow the guidelines in the ETABS help menu to define groups, create section cuts, and display section cut tabular information.  I need help determining where to "cut" the section cut and how to understand the results (what is the orientation of the resultant forces and moments).  To make matters even more complicated, I have defined rigid diaphragms at my slabs, so ETABS can't capture the section cut results in the slab.  But per the ETABS help menu, I can create a group that contains all of the point objects at the diaphragm level that have columns, walls, etc connected to them and also all of the columns, walls, etc connected to the diaph from above and below.

Any tips?!
