Pipe Dimension
Pipe Dimension
(OP)
If I have a pipe drawn up and have a side view of it in a drawing, is there a way to snap to the middle of the diameter of the pipe on one of the ends?
When was the last time you drove down the highway without seeing a commercial truck hauling goods?

But to answer your question, no. Your ACAD users will have to realise that the "line" they see isn't really a line. It is a representation of a curved edge.

You don't say which version you have and what you are trying to snap.
From my experience, die-hard ACAD users are hard to convince about anything outside the ACAD world.

RE: Pipe Dimension
SW Dimensions do not snap to a curve/line mid-point.
Unfortunately AutoCAD users are usually the worst people to switch to 3D. I don't envy you your task.

I don't think you can do this on a drawing file (I can't anyway). I can "select midpoint" on part sketches though.
g60dude, what you are trying to do isn't good practice. You don't have to draw a centerline, instead use the centerline tool button.
To answer your question go to View > Temporary Axis, and dimension to the temp axis.

smcadman ... you can do that in a drawing file, but only on "straight" edge lines. I opened a drawing with a square tube, not a round pipe, so the "select midpoint" worked. It does not work on silhouette edges or the ends of a round pipe in a drawing view though.

Corblimeylimey, you may have just learned something new, but so did I. I didn't know Select Midpoint wouldn't work in this pipe instance; I'd only used it for those sheet metal slots.
