stainless steel question

stainless steel question

stainless steel question

(OP)
This is driving me crazy, as I have a good idea of what I'm looking at and cannot find any information on the numbering of this steel I'm dealing with.

What I've got is a callout for A240 TP 304.  I've got that the A240 is the ASTM standard for Chromium/Nickel stainless plate, and the 304 is the AISI specification for a low carbon austinitic plate.

What the heck is the TP?  I can't find a list of those prefixes anywhere.  If anyone has a list of these modifiers, I'd be much appreciative.

Thanks!

RE: stainless steel question

TP is for tubular product.  This dates back to when the same grade (304) had different chemistry limits for different product forms.
A240 is a sheet and strip specification, it does not contain the TP designators.

Thanks for the input, folks.  Helps a bunch.

RE: stainless steel question

Above are correct.
'A240 TP 304' should be 'A240 Type 304.'
The problem probably started with people (unfortunately) abbreviating Type as TY.
