assembly configurations??

assembly configurations??

assembly configurations??

(OP)
Just wondering how to create an assembly config.

I have assembled several components into a "unfolded" state, but now I want to create a configuration for a folded state to show my customers. How hard is it to do this??

jeep in mind I am using SW 2007

thanks in advance

RE: assembly configurations??

Do you know how to create configs in a part? Same way in assy.
Unfolded/folded states ... as in sheetmetal or exploded?

RE: assembly configurations??

From your post, I interpret that you are assembling flattened sheet metal parts. Is that correct? If not, can you explain what you mean by "assembled several components into a "unfolded" state"?

Whatever it is you are trying to do, the default finished assembly (using default finished parts) is usually created before any special configs are created.

cheers

RE: assembly configurations??

sorry for the confussion,

I am designing a folding guitar stand, and right now I have assembled it as if it was unfolded. That is with the legs and support arms "open". I now want to create a configuration with everything closed or in a colapsed state, with the legs, etc folded up.

I hope this helps in clearing up my question,

RE: assembly configurations??

That makes it much clearer! smile

There are a couple of ways to go, depending on what kind of mating scheme you've used so far.  If you have angle mates you can create your other configuration and edit the dimensions of the angle mates such that the stand is folded.  Alternately, create your new configuration, supress mates in that configuration that make the stand unfolded, and add mates that make it folded.
