Conveyor belt in Simulation?
Conveyor belt in Simulation?
(OP)
Hello,
How would I create a flat conveyor belt that I could run with a simulation? I can rotate the pulley with a rotary motor, but I'm not sure it's even possible to run the belt around 2 pulleys. Any ideas or answers?
I'm trying to simulate a flat belt conveyor and run corrugated blanks on that conveyor...I'd appreciate ideas and input.
Thanks,

Thanks for the input...
However, I don't think I made myself completely clear. I think what I'm asking also applies to 2006 (Hopefully since we're not upgrading right now!) What I'm trying to accomplish is a simulation using the SW Simulation tools such as Linear Motors, Rotary Motors, etc. Is it possible, and if so, how do I create a simulation of a flat belt conveyor, driving one of the pulleys and therefore the belt and any items on the belt? Possibly I would "cheat" and simply apply some sort of motion to the items on the conveyor without actually "running" the belt?
Back to SW 2007, the link to the video concerning sketch blocks and Belt/Chains...That's a handy feature, but it doesn't actually create a 3D belt that runs on the pulleys; unless I'm missing something. I played with the Belt/Chain feature for assemblies also, and basically all it did was create relationships between the pulleys, the belt being represented by a sketch. Neither of these would be sufficient to use in a Simulation as far as I understand?
Maybe I'm attempting the impossible...I appreciate any response.

RE: Conveyor belt in Simulation?
Good morning, you would probably need a motion simulation package to achieve the 3D belt running on a pulley.
Please have a look at this site:
http://
Please look at the "Chain with IPM" example.
Aside from MotionWorks there are other simulation packages such as CosmosMotion (although I don't know if CosmosMotion can simulate a belt/pulley). You may want to talk to a reseller for more information.
Best regards,
Joseph

Sorry Craig, I may have spoken too soon, please have a look at one more video:

Near the end of the video you will see the new "Belt Chain" functionality in 2007.
Is this what you want?
Cheers,
Joseph
