How to implement a zigBee network

How to implement a zigBee network

(OP)
Hi All,

I would like to use a ZigBee network for a home automation.
I read all the literature on the web.

But there is some silly questions that puzzle me.
For instance, if I need to install a lighting system, e.g. 3 light switches..

1/  Do I need 3 ZigBee enddevices + 1 Zigbee Coordinator or (2 EndDevices + 1 Coordinator)?
If it is.It could be expensive for buying 3 ZigBee devices...

2/ How to connect the ZigBee card from freescale or microship for instance to the light switches, is it through the ADC input?
The channel of the input is it specified in the code of dowloaded application  into the microcontroller?

Hope you can help me.
Thanks!

RE: How to implement a zigBee network

I think that you need to study this subject somewhat deeper. It is not an easy undertaking and your level of understanding may be inadequate. You can surely pull this together, given enough time and stamina. But you can not hope to do it using scattered advice from individuals on this forum.

RE: How to implement a zigBee network

You might look through the article indexes of Circuit Cellar and Nuts and Volts, I'm sure I have seen articles on the topic fairly recently.

RE: How to implement a zigBee network

Besides agreeing whole heartily with both kontiki99 and skogs I second the Circuit Cellar recommendation.   They have covered ZigBee, in detail, many times.  They have a web site where, for something like a dollar, you can buy any article they've published and some are free.  They describe the article so you know what you're buying.  Dig around at the site a little.
