SWMM 5 - question regarding time steps and dates

SWMM 5 - question regarding time steps and dates

SWMM 5 - question regarding time steps and dates

(OP)
I've been going through the learing curve on SWMM 5 over the past couple of weeks.  I'm currently at an impass in trying to figure out what the program is asking for under Simulation Options, under the Dates tab.

The want start/end dates (and times) for the simulation, start date/time to begin reporting, and start/end dates for "street sweeping".

the user manual does not go into any detail about these options. I simply want to model the storms as defined by my IDF data.  I don't konw why I need to enter real dates and times.

Does the simulation date/time range affect my simulated storm duration? What about the Record start date/time?  Does that have to coincide with the simulation start time in order to have data output from the simulation?

Maybe all of this is simply for tracking water quality stff.  If there a way to "turn off" all water quality option and simply use it as a Hydrology/Hydraulic model?

Or... if you know any other good sources of information about SWMM 5, I would greatly appreciate any leads.

Thanks again
