PMI

Now using SE 19.

Why would the PMI menu options be "greyed" out?  I cannot access the commands to create dimensions.  I cannot find good documentation in help files about why this would be so.

RE: PMI

WOW!  You rolled out v19 right away.  Brave soul.

Since I don't have it installed yet, I can't say, but let's follow up with some questions.

Is this a part or assembly?
Can you turn on the PMI toolbar (View->Toolbars->PMI)?

Based on what I have read, PMI seems to be an application similar to exploded views, simplified part, or rendering.  Have you switched to the PMI application in order to get the PMI branch in the Edge Bar?

Doesn't seem to matter which environment I'm in although I've tried both.

I've activated the toolbar and those buttons are greyed as well.

I haven't used the exploded view or rendering applications before.  How do you activate them to get the PMI branch?

thanks for any help
Jef

RE: PMI

You shouldn't need to activate exploded view or rendering.

Since I don't have v19 loaded right now, I was trying to relate to something I was familiar with in an earlier version.

Look at your menu bar.  Is there an Application menu.  If so, click on it and see if PMI is listed there along with exploded view, rendering, motion, or whatever they may be called now.

Your hint about applications clued me to try this before but unfortunately no PMI on this menu.  I will continue searching.

RE: PMI

I'm testing V19, for my Mechanical Group. The only time that the PMI option is greyed out is if I am in a simplified part or assembly.

Hopefully this helps..

Question for Champis,

Do you know if you are using SE classic or SE foundation series?  When I spoke with the GTAC folks they weren't sure but thought that it was because I am using the foundation series (apparently stripped down).  If so I can't understand why the PMI menu should even be present.  Further, there is no mention of it being an option in the online help.

Jef

RE: PMI

SE Classic

I could not find any mention of it either in the help file.

The PMI Command Toolbar
The Product Manufacturing Information (PMI) workflow commands are grouped together on a convenient PMI toolbar, which you can access by selecting View?Toolbars?PMI in the Assembly, Part, and Sheet Metal environments, or by right-clicking on the main toolbar and selecting PMI.
