contact with shell elements

(OP)
Hi,

I'm trying to generate contact between 2 shells but when I ask a cncheck, Ansys says that I've got an initial penetration due to the shell elements' thicknesses. Is there a way to thicken shell element only in one direction?

thanks in advance.

RE: contact with shell elements

Hi

No there isn't but maybe you can use a shell93 element?

I think the problem will be the same with shell93 elements since I need to impose a thickness.

but there is probably a way so that the shell thickness does not alter contact solutions...
