Intermittent stalling/engine problem.

Intermittent stalling/engine problem.

Intermittent stalling/engine problem.

(OP)
The vehicle: a 1991 Mazda B2200 Truck (128k miles) with 2.2l fuel inj 4cyl. The problem: The engine will die, the engine light comes on (codes 9,12,14 according to chilton book) and it idles high if you restart it. This lasts for about 20-30 sec. then it all goes away and it drives perfectly. If you give it gas during this time, the engine will die as if your choking it. Sometimes if it happens while driving, you can fiddle with the throttle and it sputters and goes away. Also putting it in nuetral helps it ro recover.  Dealer could not duplicate the problem. I replaced the fuel filter and air flow meter with no change. It happened after I got the timing belt replaced which didnt occur to me until after I read other posts here. Other suspicisons I have are the cat. converter, throttle position sensor, or ECU computer malfunctions. It has no consistent times when it happens whatsoever, which makes me think its computer related. Any help is gretly appreciated and earns you beer in my presense.

RE: Intermittent stalling/engine problem.

Does it occur when it's damp/wet outside?
Could be cap, rotor, or wires.
