Hello

I m using this type of motor to control the position of wheels and I m using one field controlled by one IGBT ( move left the wheel )and the other field to move right also controlled by another IGBT. The armature is connected to +V and the emitters of IGBTS to ground. The collectors of the IGBTs to the respective fields.
 One diode in parallel with the armature + field 1. And another diode in parallel with the armature + field 2.

How do I brake electronically the motor after
moving to one direction ?
I would have to increase the average current from the diodes if i do braking ?
I would need to access the two terminal of the armature ?
Any url explaining this type of motor?

The motor is a Split Field Series DC motor.

I think you need a SCR short circuiting the armature when braking. Since the field (fields) are in series with the armature may be a small ohms resistance will be added in series after the armature winding. The idea is to have a strong field but at the same time the armature short-circuited through a resistance to dissipate heat.

By the other hand, the armature cemf is the one that controls the current. If the armature is short circuited the controller should take the current control, otherway the current will climb to destructive levels. What is the power and voltage of your motor?.
