Pro-e layouts (notebooks) what are they?

Pro-e layouts (notebooks) what are they?

I got a P.O. that requires that no pro-e layouts (notebooks) are to be used in modeling.  I'm not sure what that means.  Anyone have a clue? Thanx in advance.

RE: Pro-e layouts (notebooks) what are they?

If you don't know what they are, then you don't have to worry about them being in the dleiverables of your contract.

Layout files allow you to create a type of engineer's notebook that can be used to control a skeleton file that can control parts and assemblies. They have to be designated to the assembly that they drive.

An example: By changing values in a notebook file for diameter, length and number of tubes, a different sized air cooler can be created for a compressed air pump system. The layout file drives the assembly which in turn drives the individual components.

Thanks for the info.  One of my coworkers said basically the same thing.  LOL he told me nightmares about trying to make sense of a notebook where the creator no longer worked for the company.  From what I gather, they are more work to make than the work they save.

RE: Pro-e layouts (notebooks) what are they?

The Notebooks work well once you have an assembly that it very well defined in it's assembly/part relationships and the design is not fluid.  It allows a non-Pro/E user to come in and configure assemblies based upon the rules setup in the notebook.
