Installing SW on server for Admin Image

Installing SW on server for Admin Image

Installing SW on server for Admin Image

(OP)
Hello,

Most of our systems here are installed from an Admin image (2006) on the server. It was the first attempt at this and I didn't install Solidworks on the server. I've read in these forums that that is the best way to go, so I plan to do this for 2007.

Now SW2007 is out and I've installed sp0.0 on the server to do testing using the SolidWorks Installation Manager. I didn't install the new search functionality because I didn't want to install the Microsoft Search tool (I forget what its called) on our server. My question is then; Will I be able to install this functionality on the actual workstations? Or do I have to have the exact setup on the server. I'm also not sure how using the Installation Manager will affect this if at all.

I appreciate any input concerning this,

RE: Installing SW on server for Admin Image

If I read correctly ... How did you install from Admin Image from the server if SW was not installed on the server?

ctopher,

I used the Administrative director, installed the admin image through that. I believe there was an option to actually install the software as a usable install, or just create an image....

Thanks

RE: Installing SW on server for Admin Image

The option should come up when a client installs it... best thing to do is try it on one machine and see if it works, if not then you know you will have to go back to the server and put the windows search indexer on the server.
