bearing stiffness and damping coefficeints??

bearing stiffness and damping coefficeints??

bearing stiffness and damping coefficeints??

(OP)
Hi all,

I am tring to find bearing stiffness and damping coefficeints for use with a rotordynamic analysis that I am conducting. unfortunatly the company where we buy our bearing does not have this information.

Anyone have good approximate stiffness and damping coefficeint values for a 15deg angular contact bearing with a bore size of 12mm and a shaft size of 37deg?

Thank you,

Josh

RE: bearing stiffness and damping coefficeints??

15 degree sounds like a precision spindle bearing.
Their stiffness depends on preload and arrangement.

Lots of info is available from most manufacturers.

What's the bearing number and manufacturer.

I've only seen one or 2 damping studies.  Mighty low for ball bearings unless a squeeze film damper is included in a strategic place.

You can get the stiffness information from the Barden Bearings website.  Go to the literature section and download the bearing catalog.

I was able to get the stiffness from Barden. I had to speak with one of their application engineers.

RE: bearing stiffness and damping coefficeints??

as a point of information, stiffness varies with load.

I'm ok with stiffness but how could a roller bearing damp without lubrication. Could I have more details about this phenomena.
