Can I map PDMWorks "Number" to SW "PartNumber"

Can I map PDMWorks "Number" to SW "PartNumber"

Can I map PDMWorks "Number" to SW "PartNumber"

(OP)
Hello,

We are currently implementing PDMWorks in our office. PDMWorks has a standard property called Number, which I assume is intended to be the part number. We use the PartNumber parameter assigned in the Configuration Properties ($partnumber in Design tables) as the part number for BOM's. Is it possible to map that parameter to the Number property (or any PDMWorks property for that matter)? Or is there a way to bring the PartNumber into Configuration Specific Properties which could then be mapped to a PDMWorks property?

Yes. You must use the PDMWorks Admin interface on the "Properties" tab. See Help for more details.

Jon,

I understand the property mapping...However, PartNumber as assigned via the configuration properties (User Specified Name selected OR $partnumber in a design table) is not a custom property. Hence my question since I don't know what Custom Property to use.

Another idea that maybe useful, it is for us, is that we often have a dash in our BOM’s. We created a custom property called “BOM_Number”. That way would could put a “-“ dash in our BOM’s if needed. We have full control of our BOM this way.

Thanks for the ideas.

In my current situation, we already have a large number of components that generate part numbers for each configuration, usually with the design table. We've used the $partnumber parameter which is NOT a Custom Property. Since PDMWorks maps only to Custom Properties, I need to find a way to get the PartNumber value (which is generated via design table with $partnumber) into a Custom Property and/or into PDMWorks properties.

Is that possible?

Thank you,
