Dear All ,

RE: chewing gum

Place ice into a bag and hold it on the affected area; the gum can then be peeled off.

Gum on clothing can be put in a freezer and then scraped off.

Kerosene and ethanol dissolve gum, as probably do a lot of other solvents. When cleaning synthetic fabrics, test the solvent on an invisible part of the cloth to make sure the solvent doesn't dissolve or otherwise destroy the fabric.

The gum base can also be melted at a temperature of about 115 °C.

RE: chewing gum

A simple method is to use steam. The gum is heated with 300-degree dry steam which is then mixed with a cleaning agent.  You must be careful to avoid overpressuring your reactor and/or collapsing it with vacuum as the steam condenses.

Not sure if you can find an non-hazardous solvent.

RE: chewing gum

Talking about gum, chewing gum is a great emergency repair tool with leaking gasoline tanks. Chew it to soften it then apply as a TEMPORARY MEASURE where pin hole leaks occur.  It seals the leak and eventually dries up into a hard patch.
