Just received SW 2007
Just received SW 2007
(OP)
I just received 2007, I am currently running 2006 with PDMWorks. Should I install 2007 with PDMWorks as a new installation and then later uninstall 2006?
Do I need to do any special file or PDMWorks conversions for 2006 to 2007 files, or can I just open 2006 files as I need them and when I save they will be converted to 2007?
Is there a 2007 upgrade/install guide for non IT people like me??
sorry for the multiple questions.
thanks, tom...

2) You can open SW2006 files in SW2007, and they will be converted when you save them. That's my preference, but other people may choose to do a bulk conversion.
3) All the upgrade/install guides are in the "Support" section of the SolidWorks website.

If I install 2007 along side my 2006 do I need to upgrade PDM 2006 to 4.2 as you suggest?

I have SW07 installed, but have yet to install PDMworks. I will just upgrade my PDMworks 06 SP4.2 to PDMworks 07 without making a new install of my PDMworks. As for SW07 you should ALWAYS do a new install of that. NEVER do an upgrade to SW.
to upgrade to 4.2 - download hte SP and install - you should only need to upgrade the server, because the next time your clinets attach it will require them to upgrade the client to the latest SP and it will do that from the server.
Be sure to stop the service before installing - see the upgrade guide at SW website. http:/

rporter is wrong in his suggestion that you have to update to 4.2 apparently.
