Relationship of fatigue and grain direction
Relationship of fatigue and grain direction
(OP)
Is there any relationship of fatigue crack growth to material grain direction?
In the case of heat treatment / work hardening, how would it affect the material properties in terms of fatigue?

Futhermore, one aspect we checked when examining crankshaft failures is the flow pattern resulting from the forging. In our experience, a "wrong pattern" makes the crankshaft more susceptible to fatigue (note that in modern crankshafts, this is not an issue)
