Solidworks 2001+ No Drawing Template?

Solidworks 2001+ No Drawing Template?

Solidworks 2001+ No Drawing Template?

(OP)
Hello,

I installed SolidWorks 2001 Plus. I have the three template files Assembly.asmdot, Part.prtdot, and Draw.drwdot in the /data/templates folder. When trying to start a new file I only see the assembly and part templates. In addition under the default templates I only see the default for the assembly and part and no option for the drawing templates.

If anyone can let me know how to fix these problems it will be much
appreciated.

Thanks

RE: Solidworks 2001+ No Drawing Template?

Hi there,

First things first,  Lets verify  something

Go to TOOLS/OPTIONS/SYSTEM OPTIONS/Default templates.

On the right side of the diaolog box, there should be three text boxes that are file names and paths for specifice templates.  Make sure that they are all filled in.

By default that directory for templates is C:\Program Files\SolidWorks\data\templates\

verify that all three are completed and that the drawing text area shows drawing.drwdot

RE: Solidworks 2001+ No Drawing Template?

Sorry dude, but if you installed the new version in the same directory as your old one you probably blew away your old templates and defaults. But all is not lost. Bring up an old drawing you did with the old template, strip out the changes and save as your new template.
This is one reason I put my custom templates and formats off on the network drive. All you have to do after an install is redo the file pointers.
Our VAR suggested the new version should be installed in its own directory so we still have access to the old version.
