Bearing Material

Bearing Material

(OP)
Hi ,
I am looking for a bearing material , to be used in a vertical Pump , The water to be pumped is 140 degree f. The water has high level of sulfate (1087 mg/l) and chloride (879 mg/l) Total hardness is 1630 mg/l. I was looking into using PEEK or Thordon material. Anybody has used / or can comment on this application.
Thank you

RE: Bearing Material

What physical type bearing are you considering?

RE: Bearing Material

Physical Type? it will be a cylindrical , Bowl bearing .

RE: Bearing Material

is there zero solids? no scale, sand or any particles?  If so then one of the modified PEEKs might be a good option.
What have you used?  Are metals totally out?

RE: Bearing Material

Can you flush the bearing with a clean fluid?

RE: Bearing Material

Are yout talking about the bearing of the shaft spiders in the column pipe?  If it is the shaft spiders then I would go with rubber.

If you are talking about the bearing itself then you need to answer all the questions from the previous posts and then go with an alloy that can handle all the nastiness.
