Dwg View Problem

Dwg View Problem

Dwg View Problem

(OP)
NX4.0.0.25
Dell Precision PWS670
Windows XP x64
NVIDIA Quadro FX 4500

When I start a drawing and add a view, the view bounds are huge and nothing shows up.  A projection off of that initial view will display properly, as will any subsequent projections.
Before I run it by GTAC, I thought that I would check if anyone here has come across this.

RE: Dwg View Problem

Eric,

I'd just send it in to GTAC and let them sort out their mess.  I've grown pretty tired of all the broken stuff in NX and I don't even bother trying to find workarounds anymore.  I figure if they can't release something that works, then they can spend the time trying to figure out why it doesn't work....I'm not the one getting paid hundreds if not thousands of dollars a month in maintenance (from EACH NX user).

Good luck, bud.

I agree with you as usual.  It has been my experience though that when you send them a problem and they can't repeat it immediately, they suggest you use the work-around, and that is the last you hear about it.  Since I have found a work-around to this particular problem, I hate to waste time that I don't have running in circles.

RE: Dwg View Problem

When adding the base view, open the Style dialog and turn off "Inherit Clipping Boundary".

Thanks, fgbrender!  I will give it a try next time I'm in a dwg.  I have found that a simple update view will restore the initial view, but I still don't like the extra step.

RE: Dwg View Problem

I've seen this happen quite often and GTAC has been unable to fix it.  The only solution so far is the clipping boundry toggle.

I have clipping bounds toggled off in my defaults so I don't have the extra step.
