PDM Works/multiple sites

(OP)
Hi all,
We have an offsite PDM vault which is accessible company/nationwide. Connections being what they are, it is sometimes difficult to access files in a timely manner. We do have some fairly large drawings to handle and retrieving/altering/check in takes a while. I had heard of some third party software able to sync multiple vault locations. I mean if we had a local vault for us to work in, which syncs up to the main vault in another part of the country, at intervals. Has anyone done this, or heard of such a setup. Thanks

RE: PDM Works/multiple sites

I don't know if this helps.

Ask your VAR, there is probably a way they can help you set it up.

RE: PDM Works/multiple sites

SW now offers "PDMWorks Enterprise" version (formerly Conisio) which can do this.

cheers

RE: PDM Works/multiple sites

swforge,

There are ways to replicate a PDMWorks vault, as ctopher pointed out, but in your case, I would recommend following CBL's advice and waiting until PDMWorks Enterprise is ready for prime time.  (Our VAR told us it's not officially available for sale yet.)

RE: PDM Works/multiple sites

swforge - our company was in a very similar situation to your own.  The solution for us was to invest in Conisio (PDMWorks enterprise).  Without going in to detail we tried a couple of ad-hoc solutions to replicating PDMWorks vaults but did not find a suitable solution.  Conisio does a very good job of managing multiple sites - you can define scheduled replication, what gets replicated and where it gets replicated to.
