CBL,

I don't understand what you mean by "What happens if you select a different edge or face?" I don't get any option to do that.

the message only comes up when I attempt to flatten the part.

RE: Cannot find fixed entity...

When flattening a SM part, you need to specify which face or edge should remain static ... a datum if you will to flatten the bends in relation to.

The message reads, "Cannot find fixed entity in Flat-Pattern feature. Please do edit definition of Flat-Pattern feature and select a fixed face/edge."
Have you done that?

cheers

RE: Cannot find fixed entity...

Also, the image shows that you are trying to create an Edge-Flange, yet you state that "the message only comes up when I attempt to flatten the part.".

Can you better explain exactly what you do to get to this point.

cheers

RE: Cannot find fixed entity...

I can't see the whole part, but looks like the flange may interfere with the adjacent side when flattened. It's why it can't flatten.

well, I don't see the message anymore when flattening. I took a snapshot of the message in hopes of understanding why it happened. so I can't reproduce the problem.

this is what I'm understanding. I have to edit the feature (in this case the flange) and fix an edge in it, so the swx would bend around it?

RE: Cannot find fixed entity...

If you can't reproduce the problem, does that mean you can now flatten the part?

cheers
