(OP)
I'd like to use A4-70/A4-80 bolts in CAT II, III & IV service, however our supplier says he can't supply the required Type 3.1B Certification, so we have to install the dearer A193 B8 bolts instead. The highest pressure application is 4 Bar.

Anyone know if Type 3.1B certification is available for A4-70s/A4-80s?

FYI, SEP and Cat I only require certificate of conformity, whereas Cat II and higher must have specific batch certification.

I've queried LLoyds on this and they were not aware of the issue. The B8 bolts are costing us a lot more money - over twice price.

On a related topic, I've come across B8 bolts with documentation, which were clearly A4-70, with (badly) ground head, restamped B8.
