alternate engine design

just a quick question i hope some one can answer, a few years ago i came across a drawing of an internal combustion engine that was shaped like a shere with an out put shaft and internal vanes (that created the compression) it was also had variable compression properties, can anyone direct me to a link or know where a copy of the working plans could be??

RE: alternate engine design

You may be thinking of this.  It did the rounds of the engineering press (at leastin the UK) for a while and then sunk without trace.  The link isn't good, but it does have contact details on it.

RE: alternate engine design

Nope, that's a wankel.  Old technology.  The OP was asking about a new idea.

RE: alternate engine design

it was definatly a shere (new design) not a wankel, im sure it was on this site that someone had posted a link (few years ago now)

sorry i ment sphere shaped (ball) with 1 out put shaft sticking out

RE: alternate engine design

Blown.  A year or so ago someone put an engine on this site he thought should be modeled.  I was going though a stack of paper work and came up with his patent.  US #  4949688  This may be what you are referring to.
This IC motor has serious draw backs.  I mentioned some of them on the thread at the time.  Can not find the thread now.  Prehaps it was removed.
