wiring connections capacistor start motor

(OP)
I have a capacistor start motor. I need to know where to connect capacistor leads. I can connect leads to run foward or reverse but has no tourqe. Hooked up to drum switch to rasie snd lower overhead steel door. Does not show on name plate. Thanks Charlie

RE: wiring connections capacistor start motor

Charlie, your best bet would be to contact the motor manufacturer, or google the name of the manufacturer. Sometimes their website will have downloadable wiring schematics for specific motors.

RE: wiring connections capacistor start motor

The standard NEMA connections are

CCW

Lead 1   1,8
Lead 2   4,5

CW

Lead 1  1,5
Lead 2  4,8

8 and 5 are the start winding.

sreid, give charlie a better alternative between low voltage and high voltage connections. smile
