Point to Point along an edge Mate Question
Point to Point along an edge Mate Question
(OP)
I have a pair of scissors in an assembly. In real life when they open and close the blades cross each other and due to the geometry of the cutting edges they actually only make point to point contact as they cross each other. The point of contact constantly travels along the curved cutting edges depending how far the scissors are opened or closed.
So, I have a concentric mate for the pivot hole, and a parallel mate for the flat part of the blades behind the pivot hole. How can I mate the point to point contact so the curved cut edges stay in contact as I drag them to simulate opening and closing??
Thanks,
tom

You may need to change the concentric mate of the pivot holes to a coincident mate between points at the centre of the "contact faces" of the pivot hole. (A concentric mate would force the blades apart). This, in combination with handleman's suggestion, should allow a pseudo-flexing movement.
